We had a very hectic morning and everyone did their job well but it seemed we were going very fast all the time. The show went well with the senior children presenting.
We have decided that we need more re-chargable batteries for the mics as some of them are dying and we have to remember that they are used and re charged 3 times a week for over a year or so its time for more I think !
We have the new Year 6 crew starting to train next term so we are asking for expressions of interest this week - last week of term 3 - so we will see who is keen to join.
Being in the MVTV crew is a big commitment but everyone enjoys it and to go to Conferences and "TEACH TEACHERS" is a great reward for all of them.
The best thing they have learnt and still talk about is this.
We were running a workshop on MVTV and 2 teachers were up the back talking and playing on their ipads when the kids asked them if they wanted to join in they said "No - we are not interested"
WELL - you should have h eard the kids comments afterwards. They were disgusted with the teachers behaviour, rude, not joining in, talking while we were, disrupting the workshop.
We were listening to their comments and we agreed with them completely !
When they asked for our comments we just said, "Now you know what it's like to TEACH !"
So next time you talk in class - muck around etc - just think of what you said about the teachers !
BECAUSE it sounds just like you sometimes !

We had fun today - the show went well with a few hiccups and the show looked great - our new presenters were a bit nervous but it was OK.
It is quite intimidating being the presenter and having to sit in front of the camera so well done to everyone who came out of their comfort zone to give it a go.
We have been doing MVTV since 2003 and theres been over a 1000 children who have had the experience of being the MVTV crew during that time and then one of our maths whizz kids said at an average of 5 presenters a show (sometimes more!) and 3 times a week then 12 years that means over 7200 children have presented on MVTV, a great opportunity for them !!
And we are going to the Ulearn Conference too on October 9. We are doing 2 workshops - MVTV and 3D Printers and Robotics so it should be fun - 5 parents, 6 cars and 24 kids
More on that later!

So - where do we start ????
We think TVNZ have problems too but we coped well and the worst thing was TriCaster froze halfway through the show. We had to re start it - longest 90 seconds for the day - so with a bit of creative editing it did make it to the web so you can view it - its a bit patchy but we did the show and it was a great learning curve for all the crew.
As one of the crew said to me - "its a great example of what can go wrong and how to fix it"
Definitely not our best show ever but its a gentle reminder that technology can throw you a curve ball and that we can cope with anything that the technology throws at us ! GOOD or BAD !

The show was a bit chaotic today in that we had presenters not turning up on time - they got their scripts yesterday and they have to be here at 8:00 - the crew are here at 7:30 to get it ready so by 8:00 we are ready to rock n roll and we had to do some last minute swaps, hence Poppy in a blue shirt on a blue background - chroma keying was a bit weird but we got there!
ONE practice to get it right works as when we did 2 the presenters were "flat" by the time we went live
Mr Moores class were good presenters and everyone in their class came to watch.

The show went much smoother today. I think we got rid of most of the gremlins. We had sound problems but it got sorted. We are having hassles getting enough time to do everything too. And theYear 8 crew will be stepping down at the end of this term and the Year 7 crew will be training the Year 6 newbies ready for Term One 2015 with the Year 8 crew looking on ""advising" and helping with training.

Where do we start ? have you ever had a techno week from ? We'll we had all in one day . In fact in one show. Power glitches and computer freezes and the screen prompt failed too. You name it, we had it !
BUT, we took it in our stride and soldiered on. Talk about just in time learning. Coupled with good problem solving skills and a big dose of thinking outside the square. And we finished the show. It's not a good example of what we normally do but it's a good reminder of what can go wrong and how to solve it. So a big learning curve . Enjoy the show and just remember this is a show made by 10-12 year old children.
MVTV is such cool fun.
If you are going to Ulearn 2014 in Rotorua.we may see you there on October 9. We are presenting two workshops and one is on MVTV.
